Blockchain technology offers a reliable decentralized infrastructure, which means that it does not have to be controlled by one central authority for business applications. Blockchain technology can be employed as an application platform to build the underlying trust infrastructure of any distributed system. Since public blockchain platforms are open to the world, they can rapidly draw software development companies and communities’ attention to the strengths of blockchain technology.
Blockchain makes a unique type of organization achievable: the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). A DAO is a network of stakeholders with no central administration, just a collection of rules encoded on a blockchain network. Numerous DAO platforms have emerged recently and utilized in diverse business applications. As the number of DAO platforms in the market is increasing rapidly, DAO platform selection is becoming a significant challenge for software-producing organizations. Hence, knowledge regarding DAO platforms has to be collected, organized, stored and quickly retrieved when it needs to be applied.
Recently, we designed and implemented a Decision Support System (DSS) for supporting decision-makers with their technology selection problems in software production. The DSS provides a decision model studio for building decision models based on a technology selection framework. Such decision models can be uploaded to the DSS’s knowledge base to facilitate the decision-making process for decision-makers according to their requirements and preferences.
